here's an easy music trivia... just to keep this music thread alive!!

A portion of the lyrics.......

Went to see the captain
Strangest I could find
Laid my proposition down
Laid it on the line
I won't slave for beggar's pay
Likewise gold and jewels
But I would slave to learn the way
To sink your ..............

Name That Tune!!

I give up. Hi, p&l. I haven't visited my own thread much, because, honestly, too many of the questions were beyond the range of what I listen to. I will try to get back more often.

Hi edgar....

I hope there's someone here in A2K that will recognize the lyrics.... unless they're dead in the head..... (that was a clue :-)...)

But, feel free to throw out a music trivia question.... we should be able to handle 2 or 3 questions at the same time....

Hi Edgar, sometimes the trivia here is beyond me too. However, this song is Ship of Fools by the Grateful Dead.

I'm reasonably sure it's a Dead song - Just don't know which one.

Hi colorbook....

Yes... You're Right.... It's "Ship Of Fools" (Grateful Dead)....

It's your turn to ask a music trivia question, or do a "name that tune", or whatever....

The easier, the better.... LOL....

In April 1966, under the roar of Vietnam and a raging counter-culture, emerged a singer like no other. Who was this singer?

hmmmm..... my first thought was Bob Dylan.... but his first album was out in 1963..... so, that's probably wrong.....

How about: Phil Ochs

I think his first live concert was in 1966.....

(I'm thinking the answer is a singer of protest songs???)

No, not Vera Lynn, not Janis.

Hint: I myself and many others, didn't think she was very talented.
